Who doesn’t love ice cream? Some of my favorite flavors include mint chocolate chip, banana split ice cream, oh – and anything with chocolate in it. We even have nights where we head over to the grocery store just to stock up on waffle cone bowls, butterscotch and strawberry toppings, whipped cream, and maraschino cherries. My son is a teenager now, and we still go for ice cream runs some evenings, especially in the summer.
I can remember my great-grandmother getting out her ice cream maker, which looked very much like a wooden bucket, and making homemade banana ice cream. It was the most wonderful treat in the summer. She would have these lavish backyard parties in her garden with card tables, music, the brick barbecue just smoking, and people laughing, drinking, and playing cards. Everyone was happy and delighted with the food. I was a kid back then, and I could not wait for the ice cream and cake to be ready.
Why not make some memories of your own with an ice cream maker? I am sure you could save money in the long run, and on trips to the store for ice cream. A few simple ingredients, and you can make your own frozen confections.
